Arriving In Bucharest

The capital of Romania is the main point where you can meet a complete range of transportation, both from outside the city or outside the country.
To have an objective view regarding the options, please have a close look at the airports, railways stations and their schedule that you might need for our arrival here.

Henri Coandă International Airport

Henri Coandă International Airport is Romania's busiest international airport, located 16.5 km  northwest of the city of Bucharest. It is one of the two airports serving the Romanian capital city, along with Băneasa airport.
The airport is connected with city by :

Bus
The 780 route provides express bus service to Gara de Nord railway station in Bucharest and the 783 route provides express bus service to the city center (Unirii Square).
You need to purchase a RATB ticket before boarding the bus (for sale at the 'RATB' ticket point in the arrivals terminal -  open: Mon - Sun. 6:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
783 bus it is working between 05:30 and 23:00 and the ticket cost is 3,5 ron/one way
780 bus it is working  between 06:00 and 20:30 and the ticket cost is 3,5 ron/one way

Train
A direct train service to the main railway station, Gara de Nord, runs from the Airport train station, about 900 m from the airport. Shuttle buses connect this train station with the departures and arrivals halls and the tickets are valid both for the train and for the transfer bus. The price for a ticket – valid for the train and the transfer bus it 6 ron. The first bus is leaving the airport at 05:26 am and after that starting with 06:50 am at every hour till 20:50 pm. The trip takes about 1 hour. You can download the schedule from here

Taxi
Henri Coandă Airport has pick-up locations for taxis. You will found a line of taxis in front of  the international arrivals terminal. This are the taxis approved by the airport and they are more expensive – the price is 3,5 ron km. If you take the elevator and you go down at the ground floor and after that go out of airport and walk in front of  it (takes about 5 minutes) you will found another station populated with taxis which are not allowed to stay upstairs in front of the terminal. Despite this inconvenient this taxis are much more cheaper – the price for a kilometer it is situated between 1,3 ron and 1,7 ron. My advice is to avoid the taxi drivers that offers you a cheap ride in the arrivals terminal – even if they where official inscriptions. You will end up paying more then usual.

Baneasa Airport

Bucharest "Aurel Vlaicu" Airport  - largely known as Băneasa Airport  is located in Băneasa district, 8.5 km  north of Bucharest, Romania. It was Bucharest's only airport until 1968, when the Otopeni Airport (today Henri Coandă International Airport) was built. It is the second airport in Romania in terms of air traffic. Today, the airport is becoming an increasingly important hub for business aviation and for low cost airlines, being the main hub of Blue Air.
The airport is situated 8 km north of Bucharest city centre and is accessible by RATB buses 131, 335 and Airport Express 783, and taxi.

Gara de Nord - Railway Station

Bucharest's main railway station, Gara de Nord, is located five kilometers from downtown Bucharest and is a major rail centre with daily connections from/to cities throughout Europe and main cities in Romania.
The railway station it is located in the city so you will found the metro station inside. The metro connects you with the center of Bucharest and with some of the neighborhoods.
Outside you have the public transport company – RATB – with buses, trams and trolleybuses - offering you connections with all parts of Bucharest.
You have also a taxi station outside – but be careful when you choose your car. Avoid the taxi drivers that offer you a ride to the city and go outside – choose a company taxi like : Cristaxi, Meridian, Taxi 2000 – the usual price it situated between 1,3 ron and 1,7 ron/km
